Facing the scenic Seto Inland Sea, Nicho was born here at Takamatsu, in the post-war period of 1946, 70 years ago.
Back when Uko ferry boat was the only transportation option between Shikoku region and the mainland, the pre-war Takamatsu was known as a place of artistic significance being referred to as “sanuki geidokoro,” having more than 200 geiko.
“Nicho” inherited the name of a geiko from such colorful time, with the hope for prosperity, as two butterflies (“nicho”), a male and a female, soar upwards in a romantic entanglement.
With the vast area of around 1,500㎡, our artistic sukiya-style (tea ceremony style) building, containing 13 various sized rooms, has been recognized as one of the Registered Tangible Cultural Properties in Japan.
