Sister restaurant of famed “Kanetanaka”, Okahan has been providing fine Matsuzaka beef for more than half a century. Okahan was founded in 1953 as a Japanese-styled sukiyaki restaurant during the Showa-era of Japan on Namiki street in Ginza. The owner of Japanese restaurant Kanetanaka “Tetsuo Okafuku” opened the restaurant with the desire that people Tokyo could also enjoy the delicious umami of Matsuzaka beef from Ise. When the sukiyaki restaurant opened, noted literary novelist Eiji Yoshikawa visited the restaurant and gave some words of inspiration that led to the creation of the restaurant’s name.
Though it is becoming more and more common for restaurants to use machines nowadays, Okafuku is committed to carefully and skillfully cutting the meat by hand with a knife. Enjoy your choice of top-quality sukiyaki, shabu-shabu- or teppanyaki at Okafuku Honten in Tokyo.
